By the time it got to LA it seemed like the budget was spent and you could tell. A lot of comments on other threads were spot on. I watched the trilogy and it was meh at best. I don't watch Hawaii or LA anymore because the writing was not compelling enough. I don't fault CBS for giving it a go without Harmon and McCallum, but it it is not hitting the right notes imho. I agree that the man deserves to retire, along with David McCallum. NCIS: Mark Harmon has always been the heart of the show.

NCIS ANIME CROSSOVER SERIES

Imho this is a CBS attempt to justify renewing these series when they should really rethink that noise. Then the agents that get kidnapped are able to determine that their kidnappers are CIA because Cool J has broken his bonds and swoops in with a smile and a wink. It started out okay, but then McGee gets accused and interrogated by LA? That was totally sus to start. The show is definitely floundering these days. I just can't even conceive of who these characters would appeal to as a audience.and they're so terribly acted on top of it. But they're just pure, unadulterated awful cornball "zillennial" stereotypes (to steal the Admiral's phrase). It feels like someone at CBS thinks that these characters are going to overhaul the show to appeal to a "hip and young audience" or something. Losing the "nerds" back at Ops and replacing them with all this horrendous Roundtree/Fatima nonsense just has not worked from the start. The whole strength of the show has been in the interactions and character building, and the back and forth between Callen/Sam/Kensi/Deeks as the core. Sam has always been terrible.but in a sort of endearing "campy" way that fit into the tone of the show and rest of the cast. I genuinely have no idea what they're even going for there. Roundtree and Fatima are just straight up terrible. The quality of acting has taken a huge nosedive the more they've started to feature these new characters. Which gives them them liberty to take some of the entertaining character interactions just that little bit further. I still think the CW sort of Arrow/Flash/Supergirl/Legends shows set the gold standard for crossovers.but they also have the luxury of understanding that there's a huge degree of "crossover" between shows in the actual audience itself. Coherent story but also outside the scope of the normal shows so you don't miss anything on any specific one of the shows. This was definitely done the way i think a good crossover should work. Some missed opportunities for some even more hilarious combos, but a reasonable sacrifice in the name of making it coherent for those who do not watch all 3 shows. Making it easier for fans of the individual shows to identify what's going on and understand how the characters are supposed to relate by using them similarly to the way they operate on their own individual shows. They sort of skirted around some of the potential issues by often teaming up the "counterpart characters" from each show. Some great moments, especially in the Hawaii segment i thought. I was afraid it was going to be really cheap and superficial like some previous efforts have been.but the crossover character interaction was solid. This really was a solid crossover effort. A real fine line between that sort of compartmentalization, and also providing some great moments between crossover characters for people who do watch all of the shows involved.
